DCSS Students Shine in Harlem Design Competition

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, October 27th, 2025

Three DCSS students, including Westover High School senior Qe’asia Arnold who was named the 2025 Honorary Creative Director for the Harlem Renaissance Project’s In Every Renaissance the Artists Lead the Way design competition, brought home three of the top four prizes in the competition.

The two other students, — Destiny Melvin and Guadalupe Juan-Martin of Dougherty High School — also earned top-four finishes in the competition.

The students' artwork stood out among submissions from across the region, helping to define the creative vision for the community-led effort to restore the once-thriving Harlem district.

Winning designs will be featured on Harlem Renaissance Project merchandise, with proceeds supporting revitalization efforts, including the Harlem Legacy Wellness Center, set to open in December 2025.
