Albany Board of Commissioners Approve One-Time Credit for Senior Utility Customers

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Mayor Bo Dorough and the Albany City Board of Commissioners approved a one-time $125 bill credit on the February utility bill for eligible seniors 65 or older. Eligibility Requirements:

Must be 65 or older.

Household income at or below 200% of the current Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Must be the account holder occupying the service address as the primary residence.

Must have active residential electric service with Albany Utilities.

The application period opens November 17, 2025, and closes January 16, 2026.

"We are thrilled to offer this financial relief to our senior customers, recognizing the challenges many face. It's an opportunity to show our commitment to supporting a vital part of our community," said Mary Petty, the Director of Administrative Services.
