Dougherty County Receives Extension on Storm Debris Collection Deadline

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017

Survivors of the January storm devastation in Dougherty County have been given another thirty days to bring their disaster related debris to the curb for collection. The new date for the final pass is now Monday, June 5, 2017. Ceres Environmental Services Inc., the company hired by the County to address the disaster-related debris pick-up, has agreed to an extended commitment to ensuring the timely and effective efforts of the process.

With the help of debris monitors, the county is working to move this process along as swiftly as possible, but needs citizens to ensure that they are only placing January storm (1&2)-related debris in the proper areas for collection. All other items that do not belong will only slow down efforts in this massive clean-up undertaking. Residents are further required to follow the process for separating storm-related debris. Debris should be separated into four different categories: normal household trash, vegetative debris , construction & demolition debris , and appliances & white goods . Storm debris cannot be stacked, leaning or bagged.
