March is Youth Art Month at the Albany Museum of Art

The Albany Museum of Art will celebrate Youth Art Month all throughout March. Youth Art Month emphasizes the value of art education for all children, encourages support for quality school art programs and promotes art material safety. The AMA will offer activities for toddlers up to high schoolers planned with some community collaborations in order to better serve Albany’s youth.
Toddler Tuesday is for younger children, ages two to five, and is a weekly event that allows time for parents and their toddlers time to explore our galleries, complete an age appropriate craft, enjoy story time and time in our AMAzing Space interactive children’s gallery.
Spring Family Day is held annually in partnership with the Albany Recreation and Parks Department, Spring Family Day will be on March 12 from 10 AM to 2 PM. There is no admission fee and all children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be spring themed crafts and games for families to enjoy.
Spring Break Staycation Art Camp will also be the from March 28 to April 1st with classes from 9 AM to noon. This camp is open to kids from K4 to 5th grade and children will be grouped accordingly for age appropriate activities. Members are $80 for the week or $25 dollars for each day. Non-members are $130 for the week or $35 dollars a day.
The After School Art Academy is for children in grades 4 - 6 and offers engaging and educational sessions. They will get an understanding of aesthetic, production, art history and cultural context, while examining their artistic self. And they will have fun! There is a $50 registration fee which includes snacks and supplies, then $15 per class.
Our classroom will be open to students ages 14 and up every Wednesday and Friday from 3-5pm. Students should feel free to use the space to finish an existing piece, start a new one or work on a collaborative piece with friends.
