COMMERCIALCafé has released its most recent analysis on the fastest growing jobs, both nationwide and by state. The most compelling facts of the study are the top seven fastest growing jobs in the last decade nationwide and the jobs that are growing fastest by individual state.  Data was used from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Chemical Equipment Operator and Tender jobs are rising the fastest in Georgia, up to 372% in the last 10 years. In 2018, 2,740 of the total employees in this state worked these jobs, compared to 2009 when there were only 580.

Of the total 3 million employees across all industries in Georgia, 36.9% work in the business sector, 18.7% in the industrial sector, and 11.6% in the healthcare sector.

There were seven jobs that grew by more than 100% in the last ten years nationwide. The healthcare sector tops the list with an increase of 251%. Market Specialist jobs were right behind, growing by 182%, followed by Financial Examiners which grew by 125% over the same period. Engineers and Architects, Event Planners, Merchandising, and Manicurists and Pedicurists are the last four industries ranging from 108% to 115% increase.

Personal Care Aide jobs almost tripled in the last ten years because more personnel is needed to care for the aging population. Personal Care Aide and business jobs have grown the most in 30 of the 48 states. Jobs in management, administrative, and financial operations make up the majority of the business sector.

“The handling hazardous materials and other sophisticated equipment requires specific skills. Georgia is a logistically important state from the port of Savannah to Hartsfield-Jackson, so the need for skilled operators will likely continue to increase,” said Patrick McGregor, senior writer at COMMERCIALCafé and author of the study.
