Metro Albany’s Unemployment Rate Declines to 5.6% in April

The Georgia Department of Labor announced that Metro Albany’s unemployment rate in April was 5.6 percent, down one-tenth of a percentage point from 5.7 percent in March. In April 2016, the rate was 6.1 percent.

The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission launched a new phase of its “#MadeInAlbanyGA” campaign featuring MillerCoors. With a workforce of more than 550, Albany’s MillerCoors brewery is the third largest in the company’s network in terms of employment. The plant has the capacity to brew up to 10 million barrels of beer per year.

Albany-based HVAC Financing Leader Microf Secures $96.7M in Growth Capital

Microf, LLC, the leading provider of residential lease-to-own products for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry, announced that it has raised $96.7 million in growth capital. The combined debt and equity raise is funded through a new $40 million committed senior debt facility provided by Atalaya Capital Management with an additional $40 million accordion feature, a new $10 million senior debt facility provided by Microf’s existing lender, BrandBank, and $6.67 million in equity provided by current equity investors.
