Transcript:
My name is Catherine Glover. I’m the Executive Vice President Global Affairs for Equinox Chemicals and Executive Vice President for Adco OnSite Fabricare.
Equinox Chemicals has really just started in the export business within the last year or so. We currently export to Korea, China, India, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and we’ve just opened up a satellite office in Ghent. Also, right now we’ve got a couple of folks in Germany, in London, and we have a sales representative in Paris. Becoming active and engaged in a global economy for a small business such as Equinox—and remember, Equinox only has just shy of 90 employees, but that being said, just a year ago we only had about 30—so as we expand globally and we bring our products and services into the worldwide market, we’ve had to go through a lot of interesting processes.
But I have to say, one of the most important resources to any small business or to anybody indeed looking to export or import, is to have a good connection with your state department, department of commerce, department of economic and community development, and international trade in any state that you’re in. But from my experience, the department here in the State of Georgia has just been stellar. They have helped us walk along the way that we’ve needed to follow to become truly impactive in the global market.
We currently export two specific produce lines under Equinox Chemicals. One is Adco Cleaning Supply and janitorial and sanitation supplies. And the second is a very unique technology called Rynex, and Rynex is a combative agent to perchloroethylene or PERC as it’s known in the laundry industry. PERC is a residual effect of the dry cleaning process and is very harmful to the environment. So through Equinox and our research and development team, we were able to come up with a cleaning solvent called Rynex. And Rynex currently is just picking up steam in the European markets. It is very environmentally friendly and extremely efficient in the dry cleaning process.
Now many folks may not know this, because if you’re not in the dry cleaning industry you may not follow this, but PERC is currently being banned in many countries and in many states in the United States. And by the year 2020, we will be looking for a much more environmentally friendly way, and effective and efficient way, of dry cleaning clothes, and Rynex is a globally-recognized tested product that does just that. So we’re very excited about the opportunities in the European market and beyond.
