AB&T Commercial Banking: Where its More Than Just a Loan

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Perry Revell, Vice President/Commercial Banker for AB&T in Albany, discusses commercial banking at AB&T. He explains the process of getting to know you, your business, and where you are heading.

My name is Perry Revell, I'm a commercial banker here with AB&T. Commercial banking is so much more than just a loan or a deposit. It's really understanding the business, the business owner, how you think, where you want to go with the business, where you've been. And really sitting down with you to understand what the strategic plans are for your business.

The way that's done is just simply by asking questions and getting to know you. It's spending the time to really understand how the business operates and what's important to that particular business or business owner.

Then, at that point in time, what we do is make sure that the plans that we develop, the financial solutions that we develop, fit with the plans of the business. It's making sure that the loan for the expansion fits exactly what the needs are that you may have, the real estate loan that you may need to expand your business, making sure that those terms fit in.

And then, from a cash management standpoint, making sure that the way that we have the deposit account structure fits with what the business has to offer.

That's really what we believe, in terms of the gold standard of community banking, is providing services that really enable us to develop a long term relationship with that particular business.

The experience that I bring to this is broad based. In my interactions with business owners, I was involved in operating a small business from the start through a merger and then, also, through an acquisition of another business.

I also spent a couple of years underwriting credit, both consumer and commercial, all throughout Georgia. So, I've got an underwriting background in understanding how the numbers can provide solutions to the business.

My most recent experience was in managing commercial relationships in working with business owners right here in this area. This area's important to me, it's where I'm from. It's where I've chosen to raise my family.

So we really believe that when our customers succeed, we succeed, and then, in terms of the community, that the community succeeds. That's important to us from a community banking standpoint.
