MetroPower to Host Annual Apprentice Competition

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, November 2nd, 2026

MetroPower, Inc. will host its Annual Electrical Apprentice Competition November 2–3 at the company’s Albany campus. The two-day event will bring together 15 electrical apprentices from 8 MetroPower branches throughout Georgia, Florida, and Alabama to demonstrate their technical knowledge, hands-on skills, and professional readiness.

To qualify for the competition, participants must be actively enrolled in MetroPower’s Electrical Apprenticeship
Program, meet established eligibility requirements, and receive a nomination from their supervisor. Putting Skills and Knowledge to the Test

The competition will begin Monday, November 2, with hands-on electrical challenges and individual interviews.

Apprentices will work from identical plans and follow the same evaluation criteria to ensure a fair and consistent assessment of their performance. Experienced professionals will evaluate the hands-on work, while the interview portion will help participants strengthen their communication skills and become more comfortable with professional interview settings.

On Tuesday, November 3, apprentices will complete a four-hour written examination to further demonstrate their electrical knowledge and understanding of the trade. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony recognizing the first, second, and third-place winners.

Building the Next Generation of Skilled Professionals

MetroPower’s Electrical Apprenticeship Program combines structured training with practical experience to help participants develop the technical knowledge and skills necessary for successful careers in the electrical industry.

Apprentices gain valuable insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of the trade while learning the importance of safety, quality workmanship, and professional development.

The annual competition provides an opportunity for MetroPower to recognize the dedication and progress of its apprentices while encouraging continued learning and excellence. It also reinforces the company's commitment to developing skilled professionals who will help meet the growing demand for qualified workers in the electrical construction industry.

Through apprenticeship training and hands-on learning opportunities, MetroPower continues to invest in its
employees and the future of the skilled trades.
