Albany State University Student Government President Landon Davis Begins Tenure Leading the Invest Administration

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, October 22nd, 2026

Albany State University (ASU) formally welcomed Landon Davis as president of the Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2026–2027 academic year during an inauguration ceremony at the Billy C. Black Auditorium on the University’s East Campus.

A junior nursing major from Tallahassee, Florida, Davis is a first-generation college student whose leadership experience reflects a sustained commitment to student representation, service and campus engagement. As SGA president, he will serve as an elected voice for the student body, advocate for student interests and help strengthen communication between students and University leadership.

“Being a first-generation college student at an HBCU is more than a personal accomplishment. It's an opportunity to break barriers, represent those who came before me, and create opportunities for those who will come after me.”

- Landon Davis, SGA President, Albany State University

Davis’s path to the presidency reflects years of involvement in student leadership. He served as Freshman Class President during the 2024–2025 academic year and Sophomore Class President during 2025–2026. He also served as president of the Student Activities Advisory Board during 2025–2026 and was named Mister NCNW for Albany State’s section of the National Council of Negro Women.

In addition to his leadership responsibilities, Davis maintains a 3.8 grade-point average, has earned Dean’s List recognition twice and is a certified nursing assistant. His academic and professional pursuits reflect his commitment to preparing for a career in healthcare while remaining actively involved in the University community.

Davis has also participated in several campus programs and organizations, including the Freshman Leadership Academy, Males Mentoring, ASU K.I.N.G.S., the Summer Success Leader and Ram Concierge programs, and the Office of Student Engagement. His community service includes volunteering with Feeding the Valley, the Boys & Girls Club of Albany, the YMCA, Toys for Tots and SOWEGA Rising.

Davis enters his term under the banner of The Invest Administration, a vision centered on the belief that Albany State’s future depends on students recognizing their potential, taking ownership of their experiences and contributing to the strength of the University community.

“This is the Invest Administration, and it stands on one belief: Albany State is at its strongest when students invest in themselves. The future of our University will not be defined by what we inherit. It will be defined by what we choose to build. To every Ram, I’m asking you to bet on yourself, pour into this community, and help us build something that outlasts us all. Where you come from does not limit where you can go, and together, there is no limit to what we can become.”

- Landon Davis, SGA President, Albany State University

Through his administration, Davis aims to encourage students to take an active role in their college experience and in shaping the campus community. His message emphasizes personal responsibility, student involvement and the collective effort required to create lasting change.

As SGA president, Davis will represent student perspectives, support campus initiatives and serve as a liaison between the student body and University leadership throughout the academic year. The position provides an opportunity to elevate student concerns, encourage participation in campus life and help connect students with the resources and leadership needed to support their success.

Davis’s commitment to leadership is closely connected to his academic goal of becoming a nurse. He chose Albany State University for its nursing program and is motivated by the need for greater representation in healthcare, particularly among Black male nurses.

As a first-generation college student pursuing a demanding academic program, Davis said the relationships and support he has found at Albany State have helped him develop both personally and professionally. The University’s Historically Black College and University (HBCU) environment has reinforced the importance of mentorship, community and creating opportunities for others.

His experiences in nursing education and student leadership offer complementary perspectives: one focused on caring for individuals and the other on representing and serving a community. Both require communication, accountability and a willingness to advocate for others.

Davis’s journey also reflects the value of student involvement beyond the classroom. Through leadership positions, mentoring programs and community service, he has gained opportunities to collaborate with peers, engage with the surrounding community and develop skills that will serve him in his future profession.

As the 2026–2027 academic year continues, Davis will balance his responsibilities as a nursing student with his commitment to representing Albany State’s student body. His message to fellow Golden Rams is grounded in the idea that students can shape their own futures while contributing to something larger than themselves.

For Davis, investing in Albany State begins with investing in its people: encouraging students to recognize their potential, participate in the life of the University and help build a community where future generations can thrive.
