Military leaders, state officials, educators and community partners gathered at Albany Technical College for the Georgia Joint Defense Commission meeting to discuss strengthening military readiness, expanding workforce opportunities and investing in the future of Georgia's military communities.

Discussions emphasized the importance of partnering with local colleges and universities to develop a skilled workforce, create career pathways for transitioning service members and military families, and equip community members with the training and qualifications needed to fill critical workforce vacancies.

"The operating environment is becoming more distributed, and the Marine Corps expects us all to be ready," said Col. Sharon Dubow, chief of staff, Marine Corps Logistics Command. Dubow emphasized the importance of modernizing the Marine Corps' industrial base to meet future requirements.

Beyond military readiness, the meeting highlighted a shared commitment to strengthening the local economy, retaining talent and creating opportunities that benefit both the installation and the surrounding community.

Through education, workforce development and continued collaboration, Georgia's military and community partners are working to build a stronger workforce, support military families and sustain the warfighter for generations to come.
