Albany Technical College will officially launch its new ATC Titans esports program and dedicated esports space with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 30, at 11:00 a.m. in the Center for Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT), Room 226. The new space is a major step forward in student engagement, technology, competition, and campus spirit at Albany Technical College.

The ATC Titans esports program, themed “Compete. Connect. Level Up,” provides students with a place to compete, connect, build teamwork, strengthen leadership skills, and participate in one of the fastest-growing areas of education and entertainment.

Esports involves organized, competitive video gaming where individuals or teams compete in structured matches and tournaments. At Albany Technical College, the program will offer students a new way to be involved on campus while developing skills connected to communication, strategy, decision-making, collaboration, technology, and leadership.

Albany Technical College is launching the program as part of NJCAA esports (NJCAAE), the competitive organization focused on two-year college esports programs. Through NJCAAE, students may have opportunities to participate in organized collegiate esports competition while representing the college as ATC Titans.

The launch also positions Albany Technical College as the first college in the Technical College System of Georgia to offer esports, opening a new pathway for student connection, recruitment, retention, and workforce-aligned experiences in digital media, technology, event support, broadcasting, marketing, and related fields.

“Esports gives students another meaningful way to connect with Albany Technical College, build community, and strengthen skills that carry into the classroom and the workplace,” said Dr. Emmett L. Griswold, President of Albany Technical College. “This launch is part of our ongoing commitment to meeting students where they are while creating new opportunities for engagement, leadership, and success.”

The ribbon cutting will include brief remarks and an opportunity to view the new ATC Titans esports space. Students, faculty, staff, community partners, and members of the public are invited to attend.
