Tuesday, May 5th, 2026
Deerfield-Windsor School (DWS) proudly announces the retirement of longtime educator, coach, and leader Allen Lowe, whose decades of service have left an enduring legacy on the school and its community. In recognition of his extraordinary impact, the school will officially name its football field “Lowe Field” beginning with the 2026 season.
Lowe’s connection to Deerfield-Windsor School began at the very start—famously as a young child participating in the school’s opening ribbon cutting—and evolved into a lifetime of service marked by leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication.
Over the course of his career, Lowe served DWS in numerous roles, including mathematics teacher, Athletic Director, head football coach, head girls’ track coach, and ultimately Head of School. His influence spans generations of students, athletes, families, and faculty members who have benefited from his steady leadership, commitment to excellence, and deep love for the school.
During his tenure as head football coach, Lowe led the Knights program for 19 years, building not only competitive teams but a culture rooted in discipline, character, and pride. His leadership on and off the field helped shape the identity of DWS athletics and inspired countless student-athletes.
“Allen Lowe’s legacy at Deerfield-Windsor School is truly remarkable,” said Chairman of the Board, Brian Church. “His leadership, integrity, and heart have shaped this school in immeasurable ways. Naming the football field in his honor is a fitting tribute to a man who has given so much to DWS.”
The naming of Lowe Field ensures that future generations will be reminded of his lasting contributions each time they step onto the field.
In addition to his coaching and administrative roles, Lowe’s impact as an educator has been profound. For more than three decades in education, including 36 years as a mathematics teacher, he has inspired students to strive for excellence in the classroom and beyond.
A retirement celebration was recently held in his honor, bringing together members of the DWS community to reflect on his career and celebrate his lasting influence.
As Lowe enters retirement, he leaves behind a legacy defined by leadership, service, and a deep commitment to the Deerfield-Windsor mission.
