Congressman Bishop to Present City of Albany $1.1 Million Check for Housing in the Medical District

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 2 p.m., at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Living and Learning Center, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. will present the City of Albany with a ceremonial check representing $1,129,036 in federal funding that the Congressman helped to secure as part of the FY2026 Appropriations for Congressionally Directed Spending/Community Project Funding for the Albany Medical District Housing Plan – Phase I.

Phase I will prepare the infrastructure for 25 new housing lots, known as The Lighthouse Parcels. This area is located between the 500 blocks of West 1st and West 2nd Avenue, and the 800 blocks of North Monroe and North Madison Street. 

This project will create more housing, support economic growth, and help bring more essential workers to the medical district and Downtown Albany.

The City of Albany thanks Representative Bishop for supporting this important project and recognizing how it will benefit our community.
