Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital proudly honored Aaben Hilton, RN, as the hospital’s February 2026 DAISY Award recipient, recognizing the extraordinary compassion, clinical excellence, and leadership he demonstrated during some of the most critical and emotional moments in patient care.

Hilton, who works in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, received three separate DAISY Award nominations in one month from patient nominators and colleagues, each highlighting his ability to care deeply not only for patients, but for those standing beside them. In moments marked by shock, grief, and life‑changing decisions, nominators consistently described Hilton as a steady and calming presence who brought clarity, dignity, and compassion to every interaction.

Nominators shared powerful reflections of how Hilton went above and beyond expected care, taking time to explain complex medical situations with patience and empathy, ensuring loved ones felt informed rather than overwhelmed, and creating a space where families felt supported, valued, and never alone. His attentiveness extended beyond medical needs, as he proactively connected families with emotional and spiritual support and remained present during their most vulnerable moments.

Patients under Hilton’s care were consistently described as being treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Nominators noted his gentle approach, thoughtful communication, and commitment to comfort and compassion, even in high‑stress ICU settings. His ability to balance technical expertise with genuine human connection left a lasting impression on every family he encountered.

In addition to his bedside excellence, Hilton was recognized for his leadership. Nominators emphasized the way he guided and supported fellow staff members, fostering teamwork and compassion throughout the unit. His example helped ensure that every patient and family experienced coordinated care, reinforcing Phoebe’s commitment to treating each person as more than a patient number.

“Aaben exemplifies the very best of nursing at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. His compassion, professionalism, and leadership consistently rise to the moments when patients and families need us most. This DAISY Award reflects not only his clinical excellence, but the genuine humanity he brings to every interaction,” said Maureen Jackson, Chief Nursing Officer for Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
