Georgia’s Own Credit Union, the third-largest credit union in Georgia, announced a $5,500 donation to support Phoebe Putney Hospital’s drive to purchase a second NICU ambulance, enhancing access to pediatric care in the Albany community. The funds were raised through its annual “We Heart Our Kids” campaign benefitting children’s hospitals in the communities it serves across Georgia.
During the month of February, Georgia’s Own members contributed online and at local branches to support four children’s hospitals across the credit union’s footprint, including Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Phoebe Putney Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Georgia and UF Health Jacksonville. The Georgia’s Own Foundation matched pledges up to $5,000, with a total donation of $9,283 statewide – $5,500 of which went to Phoebe Putney Hospital.
“We are incredibly proud of the generosity our members continue to show through the ‘We Heart Our Kids’ campaign,” said Dave Preter, president and CEO of Georgia’s Own Credit Union. “This donation is more than a number – it’s an investment in the wellbeing of the Albany community’s youngest patients. Supporting Phoebe Putney Hospital and helping expand access to critical pediatric treatment means families can receive the care they need when it matters most.”
The Phoebe Putney team recently toured the main Georgia’s Own’s branch in Albany to showcase its first NICU/pediatric ambulance, ensuring members and employees had the opportunity to hear about the impact of their donations and see the end goal for the fundraiser.
“When it comes to saving lives, time is often of the essence, so we see our goal of purchasing a second NICU/pediatric ambulance as vital to the health and safety of our kids,” said Jailyn Baggett, Children’s Miracle Network Coordinator for the Phoebe Foundation. “We are so grateful to partners like Georgia’s Own, who share our commitment to serving Albany and are willing to support large-scale initiatives that will make a long-term impact on the community.”
