Albany Symphony Orchestra to Host 3rd Annual Crawfish Festival.

The ASO Crawfish Festival will be held Saturday, March 14 from 4:00 – 8:00p.m. at Thronateeska Heritage Center in downtown Albany. Advanced tickets are $65.00, ten and under are free, and are available online at www.albanysymphony.org. There will only be a few tickets available at the door, on the day of the event for $75.00.

Originally established in the 1990s, we are excited to bring back the Crawfish

Festival as the Albany Symphony’s annual spring fundraiser.2. “This unique event offers a fun and entertaining experience unlike any other in Albany. Please join us as we bring the flavor of Louisiana and the sound of Zydeco to our community, you will not want to miss it!” says Crawfish Festival Chair and board member Sherry Metzler.

Proceeds from the event will support the ASO’s Educational Outreach Program that provides the opportunity for over a thousand elementary school children from public, private, and home schools across Dougherty, Lee, Crisp, Baker, Worth, Mitchell, Calhoun, Colquitt, and Terrell counties, to experience live theater, a symphony orchestra, and music history within a single production.

Thanks to the support of donors and sponsors, there is no charge for admission for the students to attend these performances.

“While our programming changes each year, our commitment to fostering music education in our community remains constant. We collaborate closely with teachers and school administrators to deliver high-quality programming and supply educational materials that support the core standards set by the Georgia State Department of Education.” says the ASO General Manager, LeeAnna Anglin. This year as the ASO focuses on the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of America, as students learn about the works of Gershwin.

“Our children’s programming is a vital part of what we do, and the Crawfish Festival provides a great opportunity for people to help make sure we can continue providing that quality programming,” ASO Music Director and Conductor, Claire Fox Hillard said.

The family-friendly festival will include all-you-can eat fresh Louisiana crawfish, provided by Crawfish Country Catering, live music by Black Cat Zydeco, crawfish shelling contest, cash bar, and hot dogs for those who might want a second food option. Tickets are $65 each and are available at www.albanysymphony.org.

Admission is free for children ten and under.
