Phoebe Putney Health System proudly recognizes Willa Dyer, RN, of 6AB, as the recipient of the October 2025 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Dyer was chosen after receiving two nominations in one month from grateful patients and their families, each describing her remarkable compassion, kindness, and dedication to those she serves.

One nomination praised Dyer’s ability to make “every patient feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for,” noting that her calm presence, empathy, and gentle approach bring comfort not only to patients but also to their families and colleagues.

“Whether she’s offering a reassuring word, staying late to ensure a patient’s needs are met, or supporting her team with kindness and professionalism, Willa embodies the true heart of nursing. Her compassion isn’t just part of her work, it defines it. Her gentle presence brings a sense of calm to everyone around her and reminds us of the profound impact kindness and empathy can have in nursing,” the nominator wrote.

A second nomination echoed those sentiments, calling Dyer “a very caring nurse who will go above and beyond to meet the needs of her patients and their families,” adding that “there are not enough words to describe her attributes, she deserves this award.”
