Albany State University Partners with T-Mobile and MERLOT to Promote Digital Access for K-12 Students Through Project 10Million

Albany State University’s (ASU) ASURams Global is proud to announce a partnership with MERLOT and T-Mobile’s Project 10Million to help bridge the digital divide for K-12 students. Through this initiative, eligible students can receive a free mobile hotspot with 200GB of high-speed internet data each year for five yearsensuring access to the online resources they need to succeed in school.

“Providing equitable access to technology is critical to advancing educational opportunities,” said Dr. Jean-Jacques Medastin, Executive Director of ASURams Global. “We are excited to partner in this effort to ensure that every student has the tools needed to achieve their full potential.”

Access to reliable internet is essential for students to complete assignments, participate in virtual classes, and engage with digital learning tools. Project 10Million directly supports academic achievement by removing barriers to technology access for families across the region.
Students may qualify through the National School Lunch Program or by participation in one of several government programs, including:

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

  • Medicaid

  • Head Start

  • Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)

  • Foster youth, migrant, homeless, or runaway youth

  • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
