Phoebe Foundation Director Parker Douglas has been recognized as one of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy’s (AHP) 2024 40 Under 40 award recipients. This honor celebrates leaders who are making a significant impact in healthcare philanthropy before the age of 40.

Under Douglas’ leadership, the Phoebe Foundation raised an impressive $4.8 million in one year, $2 million more than the previous fiscal year. Donations to the Foundation have helped expand trauma and critical care services, enhance neonatal intensive care, advance cancer care and support many other services at Phoebe. Douglas also led six classes of Phoebe 101/Earn Your Scrubs last year, providing more than 50 community leaders with an inside look at Phoebe’s operations and strengthening the health system’s community connections.

“Parker’s passion, resilience, and commitment to our mission are inspiring. She not only leads with vision but also with heart, and this recognition is a testament to the impact she has made on Phoebe and the entire Southwest Georgia community,” said Kari Middleton, Chair of the Phoebe Foundation Board.

Douglas’ commitment to community service extends beyond the Foundation. She serves on the Board of Directors for Flint River Fresh, an organization dedicated to increasing access to fresh, local, affordable food, supporting local farmers, and conserving natural resources. She is also an active member of the Phoebe Women’s Network, which advances leadership opportunities for women across the health system.

Her path to healthcare philanthropy began after a personal health crisis in 2015, when she suffered a stroke due to a vertebral artery tear. This life-changing experience inspired her to dedicate her career to ensuring access to quality healthcare in her community. After joining the Phoebe Foundation in 2022, she rose from Children’s Miracle Network Coordinator to permanent Director in just 18 months.

“This honor is deeply personal to me. Every day I’m reminded that the work we do changes lives, just as my own life was changed by the care I received at Phoebe. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve, to give back, and to help strengthen the health of our community,” said Douglas.

Douglas is a native of Albany and is proud to work in the hospital where she was born and to make a meaningful difference in the community she loves.
