Amanda Thomas, a dedicated nurse in the Labor & Delivery unit at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital (PPMH), is the hospital’s latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This distinguished honor recognizes the compassion, dedication, and exceptional patient care demonstrated by nurses who go above and beyond in their service.

Amanda was nominated by a fellow Phoebe employee who highlighted her commitment to supporting, not only patients, but also her colleagues across the unit. Her colleague described Amanda’s willingness to assist in every area of Labor & Delivery, whether it’s answering phones, stocking nutrition supplies or supporting team members through busy shifts.

“She treats everyone like a VIP, regardless of who they are or where they come from,” the nomination reads. Amanda jumps in wherever she is needed, and she does so with kindness, grace and professionalism. Even on difficult days, she never lets stress interfere with the quality of her care,” said the Phoebe employee.

Amanda exemplifies all the attributes celebrated by the DAISY Foundation, including clinical excellence, compassionate care and deep respect for all individuals. Her ability to lead by example and lift others through her positive energy has made a lasting impression on both patients and coworkers.
