United Way of Southwest Georgia is pleased to invite local community individuals and groups to join us for the 2025 Day of Caring. Day of Action is one of United Way Worldwide’s annual volunteer service days.

Day of Caring is one of the signature events under the Volunteer Southwest Georgia initiative. Volunteer Southwest Georgia will be the go-to place for all individuals, corporate groups, retirees, and local employees to find volunteer opportunities within the community that will match their talents, skills, and help find projects that hold a special place in their hearts. Volunteer SWGA will also have the ability for local nonprofits to submit various projects that they have that would benefit their organization’s work and overall mission.

Day of Caring will be held on Friday, April 25th, 2025, 9 AM – 12 PM. Kick-off will begin at the United Way of Southwest Georgia office located at 112 N. Westover Boulevard Albany, Georgia 31707. Kick-off will include a light breakfast, followed by remarks from the United Way Volunteer Coordinator and finally, the volunteers will be divided into teams before departing for their assigned project at 9:45 AM.

The four service projects will be for The Albany Area YMCA Sports Complex, Lily Pad Sane Center, Feeding the Valley, and the SOWEGA Council on Aging.

Speaking about the importance of volunteerism, United Way’s Volunteer Coordinator, Tori Alexander, said, “Volunteering is at the very core of being a human. Everyone has needed help from others at some point in their life. Even the smallest volunteer project can create notable and positive impact within a community.”

This annual United Way event inspires and engages people to tackle specific challenges in their communities and help introduce long-term solutions. It is a time when we ask individuals to help us put our mission into action by volunteering to improve the building blocks for a good quality of life through education, financial stability, basic needs, and health.
