The Sherwood Acres Elementary School Cadet Unit (SAECU) recently traveled to Columbus, Georgia, for an exciting educational trip to the National Infantry Museum & Soldier Center. This one-of-a-kind museum, dedicated to the American Infantryman, provided the cadets with an unforgettable experience filled with history, honor, and hands-on learning.
During their visit, the cadets explored the museum’s extensive collection of military artifacts, showcasing the bravery and sacrifice of soldiers throughout history. They traced the evolution of the Infantry through interactive galleries, spanning from colonial times to modern-day conflicts. To make the trip even more engaging, the cadets participated in a BINGO challenge, using the game to guide their exploration of the exhibits. The field trip was both educational and inspiring, reinforcing the young cadets' values of discipline, respect, and patriotism.
The Sherwood Acres Elementary Cadet Unit (SAECU) is a pioneering youth leadership program at Sherwood Acres Elementary School. It is the first cadet unit established at the elementary school level in the county, offering young students a unique opportunity to develop discipline, leadership, teamwork, and respect for service. The SAECU continues to provide unique opportunities for its members to learn and grow beyond the classroom, and this visit to the National Infantry Museum was a memorable step in their journey.
