The Georgia Department of Veterans Service (DVS) officially established a new office on the campus of Albany Technical College. This office brings essential services directly to veterans in Southwest Georgia, making support more accessible to those who have served.

The DVS office is located in Artesian Hall on Albany Tech’s main campus. This convenient location allows veterans in the region to receive assistance and guidance in a setting that is both welcoming and centrally located.

“This partnership reflects our deep commitment to supporting those who have served our country,” said Dr. Emmett Griswold, President of Albany Technical College. “By bringing these services directly to our campus, we are creating an environment where veterans can seamlessly transition into academic and workforce pathways.”

Dr. Patricia “Trish” Ross, Georgia Department of Veterans Service, emphasized the long-term value: “We are proud to work alongside Albany Technical College to expand our reach in Southwest Georgia. This new office represents a meaningful step forward in supporting our veteran community.”

The Georgia Department of Veterans Service (DVS) provides a wide range of support services for veterans and their families across the state. These services include helping veterans file claims for federal benefits such as compensation, pensions, education, and healthcare. They also assist with appeals on denied claims and provide guidance on using GI Bill benefits for education and training. In addition to federal programs, DVS connects veterans to state-specific benefits like tax exemptions, driver's license privileges, and hunting and fishing licenses. The department operates skilled nursing homes for elderly or disabled veterans and maintains veterans memorial cemeteries. They also engage in outreach and advocacy efforts to ensure veterans are informed about the resources available to them, including services tailored specifically for women veterans.
