Albany Tech Foundation Matches $10,000 Gift Supporting Nursing and Early Childhood Education Programs
Monday, April 21st, 2025
Albany Technical College announces a generous $10,000 gift from Kenneth Williams to the Albany Tech Foundation, specifically designated to support the College’s Nursing and Early Childhood Education programs. In recognition of this contribution and at Mr. Williams' request, the Albany Tech Foundation will provide a 100% match, bringing the total investment in these programs to $20,000.
Mr. Williams made the donation in honor of two remarkable women in his life: his mother, Lula McCullough, a retired educator, and his sister, Barbara Williams, a retired registered nurse. In recognition of their lifelong dedication to service, Mr. Williams directed his gift to support the fields of Early Childhood Education and Nursing.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of the people I love,” said Mr. Williams. “My mother and sister have each spent their careers helping others, and I’m proud to honor their legacies by supporting future educators and nurses. I believe it is most important to invest in self, my family, and then my community.”
A check presentation took place on Wednesday, April 16 at Albany Technical College, where Mr. Williams accompanied by Lula McCullough and Kenneth Williams, Jr., personally presented the donation to the Foundation and college leadership.
This significant donation reflects a shared commitment between Mr. Williams and the Foundation to strengthen two critical career fields in Southwest Georgia. The funding will enhance resources for students preparing to enter high-demand professions that are vital to the health, safety, and development of our communities.
“Our region depends on qualified, compassionate nurses and early childhood educators,” said Mr. Williams. “Supporting these programs is an investment in the people who care for our loved ones and shape the future of our children. I’m grateful to be in a position to contribute to that effort.”
The College’s Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and Early Childhood Care & Education programs continue to grow, serving students who are passionate about making a difference in hospitals, clinics, classrooms, and childcare centers. These professions are increasingly important as the region faces persistent workforce shortages in both healthcare and early childhood education.
Dr. Emmett Griswold, President of Albany Technical College, expressed his appreciation for the gift and the matching commitment. “This donation—and the Foundation’s decision to double its impact—underscores how deeply our community values these programs,” said Dr. Griswold. “We are proud to prepare graduates who meet critical needs in our region, and this investment will help us provide more opportunities, better training, and greater support to our students.”
