Albany Sees Job Growth in February, Unemployment Rate at 4.4%

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Albany recorded an unemployment rate of 4.4 percent in February, up three-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 4.0 percent.

“Jobs are growing, and so is Georgia’s future," said GDOL Interim Successor Louis DeBroux. "With regional job growth across Georgia in February and the state's unemployment rate holding steady at 3.6%—well below the national average—Georgia continues to prove itself as the #1 place where businesses and talent thrive."

The labor force decreased in Albany by 53 over-the-month with 61,805. That number went down by 338 when compared to February of 2024.

Albany finished the month with 59,108 employed residents. That number decreased by 189 over-the-month and decreased by 552 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Albany ended February with 61,200 jobs. Jobs increased by 400 over-the-month and were up 200 over-the-year.

In February, initial unemployment claims decreased by 24 over-the-month and were down by 20 when compared to the same month last year, totaling 278.
