Albany Reports a 4.1% Unemployment Rate for January

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Albany recorded an unemployment rate of 4.1 percent in January, up three-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 4.0 percent.

The labor force decreased in Albany by 266 over-the-month with 61,847. That number went down by 560 when compared to January of 2024.
Albany finished the month with 59,296 employed residents. That number decreased by 433 over-the-month and decreased by 645 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Albany ended January with 60,900 jobs. Jobs decreased by 1,200 over-the-month and were down 600 over-the-year.
In January, initial unemployment claims increased by 11 in Albany. When you compare January 2024 claims to january 2024, claims were down by 98, totaling 302.
