Brandi Calhoun, a dedicated NICU nurse at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, has been awarded the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for her exceptional care and compassion.

A recent patient’s family shared their heartfelt story, describing how Brandi provided support during a challenging time. The patient’s newborn, born via C-section at another hospital in southwest Georgia, was transferred to Phoebe’s NICU due to breathing issues. From their first conversation to the day their newborn was discharged, the family says Brandi’s compassionate care left a lasting impact.

“Her compassion for the babies in the NICU and her love for her job is very easy to see,” the family shared in their nomination. “We cannot thank her enough for easing our minds during such a difficult time. She was amazing.”

Brandi is recognized for her ability to make families feel at ease, greeting them with a smile, answering their questions without judgment, and demonstrating extraordinary dedication to her patients.

The DAISY Award, presented in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, honors nurses who go above and beyond in providing excellent care. Brandi’s commitment to her patients and families exemplifies the very best in nursing.
