Albany, Georgia - Albany Technical College is pleased to announce the dedication ceremony for the Dr. Walter Carl Gordon Jr. Surgical Technology Lab, honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Walter Carl Gordon Jr., a visionary physician and community leader. This dedication pays tribute to Dr. Gordon’s pioneering contributions to healthcare in Albany and Southwest Georgia.

"We are honored to dedicate the Dr. Walter Carl Gordon Jr. Surgical Technology Lab in recognition of Dr. Gordon's profound impact on both our medical community and Albany Technical College," said Dr. Emmet Griswold, President of Albany Technical College. "His legacy will continue to inspire future healthcare professionals."

The dedication program will include tributes from colleagues and family members. Attendees will hear reflections from Dr. Leon Dent, Trauma Surgeon & Medical Director of Trauma Services at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, and Dr. Willie Adams, a former colleague and friend of Dr. Gordon, who will share insights into his remarkable mentorship and influence on future generations of medical professionals. Dr. Gordon’s grandson, Javian Johnson, will offer a personal message of gratitude on behalf of the family.

By establishing this lab in his name, it will ensure that his legacy of excellence, service, and leadership will continue to inspire future generations of surgical technologists and healthcare professionals. Dr. Gordon’s story is one of perseverance, dedication, and outstanding service to his community and country, and it celebrates his life in a lasting way.
