Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, October 17th, 2024

The City of Albany will hold a public information workshop on Thursday, November 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the city’s Government Center, 222 Pine Avenue, to engage with the public and solicit feedback regarding recommendations for future development of the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport. This workshop is part of the airport’s master planning process, which began in October 2023.

The Airport Master Plan is being developed in accordance with requirements set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It will ensure the airport continues to safely and efficiently meet the needs of users and businesses in the region during the 20-year planning horizon through 2043. The updated plan focuses on key airport service areas, including commercial airline service, cargo operations, and corporate and general aviation.

During the workshop, participants will be able to review forecasted aviation activity demand that serves as the basis for proposed facility improvements along with cost-effective and environmentally sensitive development alternatives to help the airport achieve its short-, mid-, and long-term goals.

The City encourages all interested parties to attend the public information workshop and provide input on the future development of the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport. For more information regarding the airport master plan, visit ABYMasterPlan.com.
