Phoebe Competes to Win Special ID Tags to Protect Children
Monday, October 7th, 2024
Phoebe Putney Health System is asking for your support – and your vote – to help protect children in emergencies. Phoebe is participating in the Roth ID Tag Community Partner Grand Giveaway to keep families connected in emergency situations. The agency with the most votes will win more than $12,000 in Roth ID Tags.
The ROTH ID TAG™ Identification System is an information tag that can be affixed to any car seat or other product used by an infant, young child or any person under the care of a parent or guardian. Phoebe’s plan would be to focus initially on distributing the tags for use in car seats.
“Motor vehicle crashes are the most common cause of trauma injuries we see in our trauma center. If a family is involved in a crash, and the parents are somehow separated from their children or unable to share information about their children, the Roth ID Tag can provide first responders and healthcare providers information that could assist in the care and treatment of the children,” said Brandi Fitzgerald, BSN, Phoebe Trauma Program Manager.
Each tag includes an area on the back for users to write emergency information, along with adhesive strips. In the event of an emergency, the removable strip can be detached from the tag and used as an emergency medical wristband by first responders, providing identification and medical information. This reduces the risk of misinformation or loss of information in a chaotic emergency situation.
“Our trauma team is doing a lot of outreach and injury prevention education. We’re even planning an upcoming event to make sure parents know how to use their car seats properly. We know these ID tags would be a great addition to our efforts and would be very beneficial for parents,” Fitzgerald said.
