4th Avenue Returns as Access Point to Phoebe ER
Tuesday, September 10th, 2024
Beginning Monday, September 9, patients and visitors going to Phoebe’s main emergency center once again will use 4thAvenue to access the ER patient drop-off and parking areas. For the last month, ER traffic was rerouted down the 4th Avenue Alley because of roadwork on 4th Avenue associated with construction of the Phoebe Trauma & Critical Care Tower.
Traffic will be directed from 4th Avenue into the parking garage where visitors must park on the first level. Motorists will need to follow signage to the temporary ER entrance to drop off patients before returning to the parking area.
“We placed a lot of signage and had security officers stationed in the area during the temporary detour to make sure people were not confused or delayed as they came to the ER. That signage has been updated and moved, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate the final stages of this major construction project that will help us transform the delivery of trauma, emergency and critical care in southwest Georgia,” said Tom Sullivan, Phoebe VP of Property, Construction & Special Projects.
The Trauma & Critical Care Tower is scheduled to open in early 2025. It will include the emergency & trauma center on the first floor, a new neonatal intensive care unit on the second floor and an adult ICU on the third floor.
