Join Us for the Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony
Friday, April 26th, 2024
Every day, law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to protect and serve our communities. Last year alone, 136 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty. These brave men and women selflessly dedicate themselves to keeping us safe, often facing danger with unwavering courage. As a token of our gratitude and respect for their sacrifice, we invite you to join us for a solemn and poignant occasion – the Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.
Mark your calendars for May 15th at 10:00 a.m. as we gather in the Kirkland building, at Albany Technical College. This ceremony is not merely an event; it's a heartfelt tribute to the heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It's a moment to honor their memory and express our profound appreciation for their service.
The Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our law enforcement officers and their families. It's a time for reflection, unity, and remembrance as we stand together to honor those who have fallen while protecting our communities. Their legacy lives on in the values they upheld and the lives they touched.
Each year, the ceremony is hosted by either the Albany Police Department, the Dougherty County Police Department, or the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office. This year, the Sheriff’s Office has the honor.
During the ceremony, we will pay tribute to these fallen heroes from each of the rotating host agencies, as well as the Albany Regional Airport Police and the United States Marine Corps who served this community. Many of the family members of those fallen officers will be in attendance. We will come together as a community to offer our support to the families of the fallen and to show our unwavering solidarity with those who continue to serve on the front lines.
Whether you have a personal connection to law enforcement or simply wish to show your appreciation for their dedication, we welcome you to join us for this meaningful event. Your presence not only honors the memory of those who have given their lives but also serves as a source of comfort and strength to those who continue to serve and protect.
Let us come together on May 15th to honor our heroes, to remember their sacrifice, and to reaffirm our commitment to supporting our law enforcement officers, who protect us every day. Together, we can ensure that the memory of the fallen lives on in our hearts and in the fabric of our communities and that, while they may be gone, they will never be forgotten.
