Recently, the Eta Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity made a generous donation to the Sowega Council on Aging (SCOA) and the Alzheimer’s Outreach Center (AOC). Funds were raised by both undergraduate and graduate members of the fraternity. 

Jesse Massey, community and civic affairs chairperson, presented the donation on behalf of Omega Psi Phi to Mandy Kavanaugh, assistant director of SCOA, and Nancy Goode, executive director of AOC. Massey is a volunteer and long-time supporter of SCOA and AOC, who dedicates his service and contributions to honor the memory of his mother, Jessi Massey.

“Many of us have seen first-hand the impact of Alzheimer's disease on family and friends,” said Elijah Macon, the fraternity’s immediate past president and current secretary. “We know the importance of care for the elderly and those with Alzheimer's through organizations like the Sowega Council on Aging and the Alzheimer's Outreach Center. Omega Psi Phi is pleased to be able to make this donation in memory of both Brother Massey’s mother and honor of our many other brothers who have been affected by this debilitating disease. Our goal to support the important work done by these organizations and make a positive difference in the lives of Alzheimer's patients and their caregivers.”

Izzie Sadler, SCOA Executive Director, expressed deep gratitude for the donation. “Such support ensures that the Sowega Council on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Outreach Center can continue providing essential care for our older community members and those affected by Alzheimer's.
