Albany Technical College (ATC) is proud to announce a special program refresh for the Surgical Technology Program, slated for Thursday, November 16th, at the Nathaniel Cross Health Technology Building (HCT), room 140. This refresh is an open invitation to the community, offering a renewed perspective and invigorating the interest of individuals looking toward a career in healthcare.

The Surgical Technology Program, accredited since May 13, 1993, has been a cornerstone at Albany Tech, developing skilled professionals who are integral to the operating room team. Lori Massey, the current Chair/Instructor of Surgical Technology, remarks, "This program has a long-standing tradition of excellence, and we continually strive to exceed educational standards to ensure our students are the best in the field."

Community leaders and supporters will be attending the program refresh. Speakers include Stacy Hobson, Phoebe OR Educator, Dr. J. Price Corr Jr., General Surgeon, and current Surgical Technology student Jazmine Smith.

Reflecting on the program's success, Dr. Emmett Griswold, President of Albany Technical College, acknowledged past achievements, "Our college has a rich history of fostering a robust healthcare curriculum, particularly in Surgical Technology. We are proud of our track record, including a 100% job placement rate over the past 7 years. Our commitment to producing highly skilled Surgical Technologists remains unwavering."

In an important transition, ATC phased out the Surgical Technology DIPLOMA program in Summer Semester 2018. Advancing the program, ATC now offers an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology Degree.
