Earlier this week, Terry Bishop, 77, who has dementia, was located unharmed and safe in Perry, Florida. The Dougherty County Police Department issued a Mattie's Call and monitored information captured on a network of Flock Cameras.

"The Flock Safety Cameras have the capability of capturing images of vehicles using a detailed description, said Sergeant JC Phillips with the Dougherty County Police Department, "The camera time stamps a photograph of license plates and the vehicle. In the case of Mr. Bishop, our office immediately began searching the Flack Cameras upon receiving the report of him missing. We were able to establish that he was traveling southbound according to the locations and times his vehicle was seen on camera".

Bishop's vehicle was last seen on camera in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Dougherty County Police Officers sent out the Matties alert for Mr. Bishop and his vehicle, which created a nationwide alert for the tag number. Based on that alert, the officers in Perry, Florida, were made aware of the vehicle being in their jurisdiction, and they were able to locate Mr. Bishop.

Phillips said, "The Flock Safety Camera System is a new but rapidly growing technology. With the Dougherty County Police Department having Flock Cameras, it also gives us access to thousands of cameras throughout the country. The system has become a "must-have" tool for jurisdictions everywhere."

The cameras cost $3,000.00 a year, and in the short time the Dougherty County Police Department has had the system, it has already assisted with recovering stolen vehicles, finding missing persons, and solving other crimes.
