Dougherty County EMS Training & Compliance Supervisor Dickie Livingston is the first recipient of Phoebe’s PITT (Pre-hospital/Intra-hospital Triage & Transport) Crew Award. Phoebe leaders surprised Livingston with the award in the Phoebe Simulation & Innovation Center Thursday afternoon.
“Dickie has an incredible commitment to making sure EMS gets heart attack patients to the hospital quickly and with quality care in the field. We also thank him for the education and training he provides. Dickie is a great partner and is truly dedicated to doing what’s best for patients,” said Russell Jones, MD, Phoebe Interventional Cardiologist.
The PITT Crew Award is a peer-to-peer recognition program started by Phoebe Heart & Vascular to honor area EMS or Fire Rescue Team members for their extraordinary contributions that are helping save the lives of heart attack victims.
“I would like to thank the Phoebe leadership for this recognition. I’ve never seen another hospital go out of their way like this to honor the work of EMS. Dickie is very focused and humble and certainly deserves the award,” said Richard Sneed, Dougherty County EMS Field Training Officer.
Ruth Anne Larson, Phoebe’s Cardiovascular Quality & Accreditation Manager, said Livingston works closely with Phoebe and provides feedback for process improvements between Phoebe and EMS. “Dickie has been an integral part of the relationship between Heart & Vascular and Dougherty County EMS. He provides a wealth of information and resources due to his experience and expertise, and we are honored to present him with the first PITT Crew Award,” Larson said.
Livingston has been a paramedic for nearly 28 years and has worked for Dougherty County EMS for that entire period.
“We all have to be patient advocates and cooperate to make sure we get patients to the hospital as quickly as possible. When we work together, the result is a better outcome for the patient,” Livingston said. “I’m just doing my job and trying to train others to be committed to patient advocacy, so we can do the best we can for our patients.”.
Phoebe plans to present PITT Crew Awards several times a year. A picture of each recipient will hang on an honor wall at the hospital.
