Dougherty High Students Receive Memorial Scholarship
Thursday, May 4th, 2023
Two Dougherty Comprehensive High School students were awarded a scholarship given in memory of a DCSS employee's son who tragically died in February 2022.
Tobias Brown and Zokeria Monroe were called to Principal Jerry Sanders office Wednesday morning where LaKenya Johnson presented them with two checks for $1,000.00 each. The scholarships were given in honor of Johnson's son Marcus Dent, who died tragically February 9, 2022 at the age of 23.
"I knew when I met you two that you were the kind of students and the kind of people that Marcus would've wanted me to give the scholarships to," Johnson said. "Now leave here and do great things."
Brown is headed to Morehouse College and Monroe has been accepted to Clayton State University.
