The global pandemic and events of the past few years have opened our eyes wider to inequities. Now more than ever, we must act with the “fierce urgency of now” – through volunteering and other community engagement – to deliver on the promise of Dr. King’s example and mission.
Residents and friends of the area are invited to take part in an accessibility friendly scavenger hunt throughout downtown Albany wherein they will complete creative volunteer challenges designed to increase awareness of United Way services - discovering whatit means to ‘LIVE UNITED’. Projects include: fruit orchard clean up, planting trees, vineyard landscaping, trash removal, recycling, and sorting clothes/shoes at four local organizations (Flint River Fresh, Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful, Level Up Young Man, and The Salvation Army Albany).
Scavenger hunt participants will partake via car or motorized vehicle. All are welcome- no prerequisite levels of physical fitness norrunning shoes required. Attendees are encouraged to engage and network with the many United Way supporters who will be present.
