Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Albany recorded an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent in November, down two-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.8 percent.

"We are seeing job numbers continue to rise across the state as Georgians secure employment,” said Commissioner Butler. “Unemployment rates also dropped in regions throughout Georgia in November as we entered the holiday employment period.”

The labor force decreased in Albany by 95 and ended the month with 65,453. That number went down by 262 when compared to November of 2021.

Albany finished the month with 63,074 employed residents. That number increased by 35 over the month and dropped by 149 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Albany ended November with 63,600 jobs. That number went up 700 from October to November and went up 1,800 when compared to this time last year.

The number of unemployment claims increased by 1 percent in Albany in November. When compared to last November, claims were down by about 8 percent.

Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 578 active job postings in Albany for November.
