Andrew College President Linda Buchanan Announces Retirement
Tuesday, September 6th, 2022
President Linda R. Buchanan announced that this will be her final year at Andrew College, which will culminate eight years of service to the institution. She has led and overseen a period of significant and important change, as the college has added notable new academic programs which are desperately needed in rural Georgia such as nursing and respiratory therapy, and returned baccalaureate status to the college after 100 years in the form of business and elementary education.
Significant campus improvements have occurred with the significant renovations of Mitchell and Rhodes Halls, beautification projects resulting in greenspaces on campus, and the procurement of a USDA loan which led to the renovation of what is now known as Staples Hall and the Patterson residential quad. A commitment to the revitalization of downtown Cuthbert and a connection to the community has been lived out by the additions of several historic buildings on the downtown square.
This academic year marks Dr. Buchanan’s 44th year of service in higher education which coincided with 23 years of service in the Navy Reserve, from which she retired as a Captain in 2009. The Andrew board of trustees will begin their search for her successor immediately, which will culminate with her successor’s appointment in the spring of 2023.
