Albany City Commissioners Deny Liquor License for Maple Street Family Dollar

On Tuesday evening at the Albany city commission meeting, commissioners denied the alcohol license for the Family Dollar off Maple Street in Albany.
Mayor Bo Dorough and Commissioner Bob Langstaff voted against denying the liquor license, but they were beaten by a 2 to 6 vote.
Most of the commissioners voiced their reasoning on why they denied the license. Many had the concern that Family Dollars are preying on the low-income areas and with the addition of alcohol these stores could make neighborhoods worse. See more here.
