ASU President Marion Fedrick: Homecoming 2021
Tuesday, September 21st, 2021
Homecoming is an exciting time for everyone – students, faculty, staff, and alumni. We look forward to welcoming you back, cheering for our team, celebrating our heritage, and having responsible fun.
This year, we are excited to welcome back and host Homecoming 2021: It’s the Coming Home for Me. We are also being cautious to ensure everyone has a great experience. We have modified plans for our activities to adhere to recommended health and safety protocols. Some of the modifications include pre-registration and limited attendance for selected events, relocating other events to outside spaces, and inside spaces will be sanitized frequently throughout Homecoming.
We are making every effort to do our part to create a safe and healthy environment. The COVID-19 pandemic is still prevalent in our nation, state, and local community. With that knowledge, we will adjust events, if necessary, sometimes with limited to no advance notice.
While you are attending Homecoming activities, we strongly encourage you to always wear a mask, during both inside and outside events regardless of your vaccination status. The use of masks and vaccinations are known to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Working together, we can help reduce the spread and rate of infection of this deadly disease.
There are thousands of students, faculty and staff that call ASU home. Out of respect for them, please follow the recommended guidelines of masking up, regularly washing your hands, getting vaccinated, and tested. Vaccinations, testing, and masks will all be available to you during your time on campus. Albany businesses and others in the surrounding communities may be hosting non-ASU activities during our Homecoming week that may require you to follow specific protocols. If you are planning to attend any of those events, please make sure you are familiar with the requirements in advance.
Homecoming is a time to celebrate what it means to be a Ramily. With your help, we can do so safely, responsibly, and respectfully for all Ramily members.
Next week, you will receive a Homecoming 2021 information guide to help you navigate your participation. The campus community is looking forward to welcoming you back to your ASU.
