Representative Dukes to Announce the Introduction of Nigel’s Law, in Honor of Nigel Brown

State Representative Winfred Dukes, Dougherty County District Attorney Gregory Edwards, Albany Police Chief Michael Persley, and Dougherty County Commissioner Gloria Gaines, will hold a press conference Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 4:00 P.M. in Room 100, Government Center, 222 Pine Avenue, Albany, Georgia.  Representative Dukes will announce the introduction of Nigel’s Law, in honor of Nigel Brown, which would enact tougher sentencing for individuals who take the life of minors and senior citizens.  District Attorney Gregory Edwards will address the merits of the proposed law and other gun-related offenses that need legislative attention.  He will also provide assurances to the public that while he is engaged in the Nigel Brown matter, other cases are moving forward.  Chief Michael Persley will provide an update on the status of the case.  Commissioner Gloria Gaines will announce contributions to the family.

Senator Freddie Powell Sims, State Representatives Gerald Greene and CaMia Hopson, County Commission Chair Christopher Cohilas and Mayor Bo Dorough have been invited to participate.
