Restore Dougherty Grant Assistance Deadline Approaching

On January 4, 2021, Dougherty County launched “Restore Dougherty,” a county-based housing recovery program to help eligible Dougherty County homeowners who experienced home damage during the 2017 Tornado and Straight-line Winds, as well as Hurricane Irma, and who continue to have unmet recovery needs. The last day Dougherty County will accept ap- plications is July 6, 2021.

The “Restore Dougherty” program is specifically targeted for homeowners that reside in Dougherty County zip codes 31701, 31705, and 31707 that received damage to their homes during the 2017 Tor- nado, Straight-line Winds and Hurricane Irma, and continue to occupy their home with remaining recov- ery needs. The application intake period for the program started on January 4, 2021 and will end on July 6, 2021.

Those homeowners who are low- to moderate income occupants will be a program priority. Some of the options for recovery assistance include home elevation, home reconstruction, and home rehabilitation.

To register for “Restore Dougherty,” homeowners can complete online preapplication at https://forms.albanyga.gov/Forms/rehabapp, call Marquita Shealey at 229.894.2561 to request a preappli- cation or pick up a preapplication in person at The Disaster Recovery Intake Center 125 Pine Avenue Suite 140 Albany, Georgia 31701.
