Dougherty Board Declares District 2 Seat Vacant

The Dougherty County Board of Education voted in a special-called meeting Friday to officially declare the District 2 seat formerly held by Milton Griffin as vacant, following his death.
Griffin died on February 17. He had served on the board since first being elected in 2000.
Friday, the board voted to adopt a resolution that declared the seat officially vacant. The Dougherty County Board of Elections is expected to meet in the coming days to accept the resolution and call for a special election to fill Griffin’s unexpired term, which runs until December 31, 2022.
