The youth at the local Boys & Girls Club of America in Albany, Georgia will have the opportunity to enjoy new workout equipment, thanks to the Albany State University athletic department and Academy Sports + Outdoors.

On February10th, the Albany State University athletics administration and student-athletes were on hand at the local Boys & Girls Club of America located at 1309 North Jefferson Street, Albany, Georgia to donate new workout equipment.

The donation was sponsored by Academy Sports + Outdoors, the official sporting goods and outdoor retailer of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).

The donation included numerous items like jump ropes, yoga mats, fitness balls, exercise equipment and more.

The Albany State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, a group of student-athlete leaders representing the Golden  Rams 11 varsity sports and cheerleaders, were instrumental in the planning of the donation.

The partnership between Academy Sports + Outdoors and the SIAC focuses on establishing meaningful community initiatives within the SIAC footprint. Specifically, these initiatives will look to activate and amplify grassroots efforts, such as youth outreach and mentoring programs, that are inclusive of student-athletes and administrators from across the conference.
