MCLB Albany to Hold Joint Marine Corps Birthday Cake-Cutting Ceremony and Uniform Pageant
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020
Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany and Marine Corps Logistics Command will hold a joint birthday cake-cutting ceremony and uniform pageant here Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. on Schmid Field to celebrate the Marine Corps’ inception on Nov. 10, 1775.
The special guest of honor will be Scott Steiner, president and CEO, Phoebe Putney Health System, and several healthcare heroes for their efforts to combat the “war on COVID-19” in our community.
This year marks the 245th Birthday of the Corps. The traditional cake-cutting ceremony and uniform pageant allows Marines to showcase and highlight those who have gone before, as well as the past and present uniforms of those who fought, and are currently fighting, in defense of our nation around the world.
Since Nov. 1, 1921, by order of the 13th Commandant, Gen. John A. Lejeune, the Marine Corps Birthday has served as a reminder of the honorable service of the Corps and its inception.
