Modern Gas Company today announced the 2020 Rib Showdown competition planned for Saturday, October 24, has been canceled as a result of the Public Health State of Emergency Executive Order renewed by Governor Brian Kemp on September 30, 2020.

“We are disappointed that the Rib Showdown will not happen this year as we had hoped,” said Mark Holloway, President of Modern Gas, “but we are supportive of the Governor’s efforts to protect the citizens of Georgia, allowing us to continue moving forward in reopening the state.”

According to Vice-President Wendy Salter, the annual event that allows backyard bar-be-que rib masters to compete for the winning title while also raising funds for charitable organizations will move forward in 2021. “The Rib Showdown has proven to be a great event for our community by providing family fun and entertainment with over $18K of proceeds benefiting non-profits since the event started in 2013. We look forward to having the event in 2021.”
