One of only two south Georgia teams invited to the State Robotics championships, the West Town Wildcats capped off an exciting robotics season by finishing 23 out of more than 500 Lego League Teams.

Each year, elementary students in 4th and 5th grade from Dougherty County compete in the FIRST Lego League robotics competition. This year the competition was based on the theme, City Shapers, and students were challenged to complete several tasks.

Students had to build and code a robot to autonomously complete Lego missions, demonstrate gracious professionalism and teamwork, complete a presentation about their robot's design qualities, and research and design a solution to improve a public space.

Dougherty County students took on the challenge and earned several recognitions this year, including an invitation to compete at the state level for the West Town Elementary Wildcat
